This copy INSCRIBED to artist R. B. Kitaj (and with Kitaj's handwritten signature to front endpaper). A wonderful association copy. Ashbery later wrote on Kitaj's work and Kitaj contributed artwork to Ashbery's Arion Press book Self Portrait In A Convex Mirror.

This is the publisher's copy, signed on the colophon page by poet and artist and bound in the deluxe edition of 26 copies, each with an original full-page pen and ink drawing by Brainard. The drawing in this copy is an especially nice composition of toothpaste tube and brush. Laid in to this copy is a 5 x 7" photograph of Ashbery and Brainard (taken by David Kermani). A fine copy in acetate wrapper with one tiny chip.
