Mostly all written between 1970 and 1971 although a few are from later in the 70's. All are from Bell to Simic and all are signed either in full or simply as "Marvin". Eleven of the pieces are typed letters; the other two pieces being hand-written postcards. Mostly written at the University of Iowa where Bell was the editor of The Iowa Review at the time.
