New York: Privately Printed, 1970. First edition. Loose Sheets. Original single typed sheet of paper prepared by performance artist Vito Acconci. Entitled "STEPS (STEPPING-OFF-PLACE)", it describes a month-long series of repetitive actions to take place at his apartment on Christopher Street in New York from February 1-28, 1970 at 8 AM each day. The public was invited to attend. Steps is one of the performance artist's earliest and best-known pieces and has been documented with photographs and included in the holdings of various museums including the Guggenheim. 8 1/4 x 10 3/4". A fair to good only copy. Paper is tanned with age and somewhat soiled. Chip missing from top (not affecting any of the text). Provenance: from the library of fluxus poet Jackson Mac Low. Fair.
