Sold here together is a small archive of material from the archives of Coyote Books in San Francisco founded by Zoe and Bill Brown. Zoe is a book designer, editior and a photographer who worked with Donald Allen and studied with Minor White and later worked with Dorothea Lange. The materials all relate to poet Charles Olson. Coyote Books published Charles Olson Reading At Berkeley as Transcribed by Zoe Brown in 1966 which included photographs by Jim Hatch. This archive consists of the following: (1) a hand-addressed envelope from Charles Olson to Zoe Brown (postmarked August 7, 1966). On the verso of this envelope is a short handwritten note from Olson to Brown. (2) Seven typed pages (numbered 43 to 49) of a transcripted conversation between Olson, and several others including Allen Ginsberg. Because it is only a partial transcript there is no further information about its full purpose or whether any of it was published. There are several small pencilled hand notations and marks in the pages. (3) Four original photographs of Olson taken by Jim Hatch (with "Photo Credit by Jim Hatch" stamped on the verso of each photograph. They are all printed on hard pressboard. They measure approx. 9 3/4" wide x 8" tall. These were photo that were used or at least intended for the publication of Charles Olson Reading At Berkeley from Coyote Books. and (4) twelve photostats of negatives of photographs taken by Hatch of Olson. They vary in size and dimension. Photos are in fine condition. Fine. Item #33798
